Unable to add the Required DC to a DC in NWDS

Hello All,

I have imported the Track in NWDS and when I try to create a project by right clicking-> create project, i get lot of build time errors. When i opened the DC in component properties and in dependencies tab of the DC, I could find that there are lot of broken DC that are required for building the main DC.

Kindly find the attached screensnap for your reference.

When i click on Resolve all button nothing is happening. I am not able to add these DC'S. They are still in broken state. Kindly let me know how to add these dependencies.

For your information, My NWDI version is 7.4 and NWDS version is 7.3. All the SC has been added to the Track in SLD.

Regards

Hello Ritesh,

1.

Please ensure you have correctly added the SCA build time dependencies for your product version in the SLD. I do not see on the screenshot any required SCA. This proves the configuration of the custom SCA is not correct on SLD.

Defining Products in a Single Development Configuration

Working with Products and Software Components

This SAP note will help you with regards to the required SCAs with regards to the type of development.

1572743 Required SCs for Specific Type of Development in 7.31 Track and 7.40 Track

2.

The following versions MUST BE consistent:

. NWDS,

. Software Components (SCs) in the Development Track

. RunTime System.

For more details please refer to this blog and this SAP notes:

718949 - Web Dynpro Application Compatibility WebAS SPx - SPx+n

1791485 - NWDS 7.3 EHP1 as development environment for SAP NetWeaver 7.4

I am posting this because the version of the NWDS and the version of the buld-time SCA dependencies depends on the version of the AS Java where your custom code will run!

3.

When you have configured correctly the SCA-build time dependencies you MUST execute "Update CMS". Navigate to CMS - Landscape Configurator - Domain data.

4.

When the update is done, then delete and add the custom SCA in the track, in the CMS.

5.

Then you need to import all of the SCA in the CMS - Transport Studio. More guidance in Imports

Only when the import is successful, only then you can proceed with the import to the NWDS. You will have to delete and import again the track in the NWDS.

Hello Milen,

Thanks a lot for such a detailed explanation. I really appreciate it. However when I see the build time dependencies of my SC, I can see that all the dependencies are added. Kindly find the below snap for your reference. There are 16 SC which were added.

Our Portals are on 7.4 SP18. Could you kindly let me know if SP level of the above dependencies is needed to be considered. I mean is it fine if they are on 7.40 or else even they should be on SP18.

Awaiting your reply.

1. I can not see the attached file. Have you imported successfully all of the Required SCAs in the CMS - Transport Studio?

2. The SP is as important as of the usage of the NWDS 7.31 SPS.

Hello Milen,

Thanks again for your quick response.

In SLD inside my custom SC, all the standard SC have been added as build time dependency. Their version is 7.40. In CMS all the SCA'S are available. Previous developer had configured it but they are on version 7.40 SP8. where as my Portal is on 7.4 SP18. Could you kindly let me know if I need to replace all the SCA with the same SP level as of my Portal.

Can you also let me know the connection between SC's available in SLD and the SCA files in CMS.

Hello Ritesh,

The fact that the build-time dependent SCAs "are added in CMS", does not mean they have been successfully imported in the Dev tab of Transport Studio. This is why I am asking you again "Are all of the Required build-time dependent SCAs imported successfully in the CMS - Transport Studio?"

If not - please re-import them. When import of any SCA fails, please attach the logs from "Details" (CMS - Transport Studio - select the failed import SCA and click on Details).

Else - well, I do not think this is possible because then there should not be ANY broken DCs reported - which in fact is not the case as per your initial description.

Regards,
