Dears,
I confiured SCOT as per note
SAP Note 455140 - Configuration of e-mail, fax, paging or SMS using SMTP
Now when I send any mail I found it for a long time in waiting stage in tcode SCOT and then after 7,8 hours I found it in SOST with error:
13:43:18 Document sent
13:43:18 Wait for communications service
20:46:32 Message cannot be transferred to node SMTP due to connection error (final)
While as per correct procedure it should get transfered to SOST immediately with yellow sign.
Please suggest.

The SMTP plugin tries to send the message out to the server you configured. That server doesn't seem to be reachable from your system. Please check that.

The good news is that the error message indicates that the issue is likely to be within your control (not firewall, external e-mail etc).
Can you confirm the following:
SAPConnect service is configured and active.
SMTP Node is configured correctly, remembering your Default Host setting (and 'node in use' is ticked!)
SMTP service is configured and active (correct port, hostname etc).

1. check SMTP service enabled
2. check mail server settings in the scot --node.
3. check telnet mail server at 25 port. it should be open and successfull telnet.
