Analyzer "No Applicable Data Found" when adding drilldown characteristic

Former Member

Hi all,

I am having trouble with Analyzer.

I have a query wich works fine until I add a specific characteristic to the query drilldown.

Until I do so, the query shows N records as results of my query. But when I want to add this specific characteristic the query returns No Applicable Data Found.

This makes no sense ! If there is no data for this char there should be a "#" but how can it turn my result set into a No Applicable Data Found ?

Please let me know any ideas you may have,

Everything is welcome,

Regards,

Hi,

First check the data in the Infoprovider (Cube/DSO) for the same selections you have give in the query whether data is available or not?

Hi Veerendra and thanks for the quick reply.

Actually since I have a result set working OK before adding this conflictive Characteristic, that shouldn't be a problem.

If I go to the provider that feeds my query I can see the records I would like to see in Analyzer.

The thing is, as said before, that when I reach the point of adding this characteristic to my query drilldown, the query suddenly returns a No Applicable Data Found.

Is it a bit clearer ?

You are correct. When you drilldown with the added characteristic in the analyzer there should be combination reocords exists in the infoprovider (means with the added characteristics and dynamic area fiels in the initial query).

If you check with the same combinations in the infoprovider (with the added characteristic and the initial characteristics in the query) we can find whether the data is available or not.

The data is available, and if I go through Display Data from InfoProvider context menu or SE16 I can see the desired results.

But if I try to build this query as a BEx Query or a report against the InfoProvider via Analyzer I cannot see the results.

If I avoid adding this particular characteristic to the drilldown, there is no problem. I see the 8 records I am expecting. But once I add the characteristic the message appears. If anything, a Not Assigned value would be an acceptable outcome, but a "No Applicable Data Found" is not acceptable.

Any thoughts ?

Santiago,

A few other things to check...

This could be caused by drilling down on a characteristic with values for which you do not have authorization. Result in this case is to show nothing, rather than just showing the values which you are authorized to see.

It might also be caused by a condition that only works when certain drill-downs are present, or perhaps by a zero suppression issue.

Hope this helps...

Hi Bob,

The characteristic which is causing trouble does not have any authorization object assigned, so it's impossible to be causing such an error. Even though I performed an authorization trace with my user for the query and it ended with no error checks.

In the Analyzer version of this problem, there is no zero supression or conditions (it is analyzer against a provider) and the same with the Query, which has no zero supression or conditions defined.

Any other thought ????

Hi Santiago,

Have you solved the issue? If so then how?

Thanks.
