NB
process flow for Absences in Time Management
Absence Type will be created
Absence Quota type will be created
deduction rule will be created. absence quota type will be assigned to the deduction rule
counting rule will be created. deduction rule will be assigned to the counting rule
counting rule will be assigned to the absence type.
there will be no direct link between the absence type and absence quota type
deduction rule will define which quota type will be deducted
counting rule will define how it is counted when as absence is deducted.

you have to create a absence type say CL
create absence quoto CL 12 days annually
counting rule will tell the system how to count the leave example if an employee taking a leave wether weekely off holiday to count or not.
deduction rule link to the absence quota if a person take aleave it will reduce the quota
again deduction rule was assigne to counting rule it will tell how much leave should deduct
counting rule was linked to the absence type (here it will tell the system if a person is applying the particular leave it will count the leave date)
another two main rule is required for generating absence quota Base entitlement and quota generation rule

Hi,
Counting rules define which days/hours are counted for deduction.
Decution rules defined how counted days/hours are deducted, e.g. from which quota, in which sequence, etc.
So these are 2 steps of the same process: 1. count days/hours, 2. deduct from respective quota.
Cheers
