Material Group

Hi experts,

I have seen in the table EKPO fields (po item level) like material group, material group 1 and material group 2. I know material group as material hierachy, but material group 1 and 2 are unknown to me. What are these fields used for? Are there corresponding fields in the PO? If yes, is there a possiblity to extend this hierarchy structure to material group 3, 4 ..?

Best regards,

Fan

Hi,

Material groups1 to material groups5 are present at sales order level.

Goto Item details-->Additional data A.

Here you can identify these fields.

Actually SAP has provided these fields in customization.

The Path is:

SPRO>Logistics - General>Material Master>Settings for Key Fields>Data Relevant to Sales and Distribution-->Define Material Groups.

Here all the material groups are defined.

We can set some values for each material group.

This should be done in configuration.In the same screen,double click on the material group.Click on "New entries".

Here you can create new entries.

All these new entries can be seen for the same material group in slaes document item in drop down.

The purpose is:for example,the client needs the letter "AA(Acknowledgement accept)".Here in this case we will set a new entry for our material group.And he needs at the item output level.

If we choose "AA" for this field,then output will be triggered automatically and issued.

This is one way of usage.

Regards,

Krishna.

Hi

thank you both very much for your prompt reply. So if I understand it correctly, there is no possibility to use them in the PO as material hierarchy. I just do not get why there are listed in the PO item level table.

These Material groups 1--- Material group-5 available in MVGR1-MVGR5 in Table:MVKE( MMR - Sales org2 view)

used for analysis purpose. You can even use these fields in condition table, based on the requirement, you maintain condition record for the same. Its actually used in Sales, but not in Purchase scenarios.
