How To Change Application Name In Portals

Former Member

Hi Experts,

Our scenario is like that we have created one application with name say "ABC". It was running fine and we assigned that application to 20 roles. now we want to rename the application name say "XYZ". Do we need to change the new renamed application for each role or is there any way to do it with less effort and time.

Thanks & Regards

Jeetendra..

Hi,

If you added that application as delta link to all the 20 roles then changing the application name(iview/page/workset) will change in all the roles. Otherwise you need to change in all the places manually.

Can you please be more specific of what do you mean by application name.

Hi thanks for your quick response.

I mean to say we have deployed one application and that application appears as a web-DynPro application in PCD. Then i copied that application and pasted in the application folder as a page(PCD object). The page in the folder and application in webdynpro application both are having the same name.

Now when i changed the name of the application in webDynPro (By re factoring) and deployed. The name in PCD in webdynPro application get changed but the PCD object in Folder becomes like a warning sign and shows that broken delta link.

Now i want to know can i edit the link of the object so that it can point to the exect application or i have to copy the application and again paste as PCD object in the folder and then assign again to all 20 roles.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

That means you are using Webdynpro iview for that application. And this iview is placed in a page with same name.

As we already told to you that if you assign them as delta link, then change of the iview or page name will automatically changes in all the roles.

If you copy them instead of delta link then each will act as independent and you need to change them manually.

My suggestion is remove the page or iview from all the roles and assign as delta links in all the 20 roles.

So it will be easy atleast for the next time to make any changes.

Jeetendra,

Do you want change the name of the iView which you have created and assigned to the Role?

If so, you can simply change the iView name as per below,

Content Administration -> Portal Content -> Navigate to your iView and double click to open -> change the property value u201CNameu201D

If you have used assigned the iView to the role/page/workset as a delta link then the change would be applied to all your roles.
