Dear Ashok,

In my understanding functionality wise and internal structure wise a routing and rate routing are same.

But in order to differentiate the products which are manufactured using a normal discrete scenario and REM scenario ,rate

routing will be normally used in REM scenario.

In Rate routing setup time will not be considered even if maintained in the rate routingwhile backflushing.

Also refer these threads to explore more,

Hi,

Rate routing is used for repetative manufacuting and routing for Discrete manufacturing process. This is SAP standard process for distingushing between two process. Routing list the no of operations required to manufacture one product where as rate routing will have a single production line.

Refer this link for more details: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_45b/helpdata/en/03/bb1d0ca6e811d189010000e8323492/frameset.htm

Ashok,

Basically it is SAP design to have different tasklist for different application.

If you look at it from Enduser perspective, not much of change you can see with respect to Rate Routing and Routing. Rate routing is designed by SAP for REM and Routing for Discrete Manufacturing.
