MM month closing

Dear Experts,

Today 1 Nov 2009, one support employee close MM period (by t-code mmpv). and then current period is 11 2009 and previous period is 10 2009. but i again close 11 2009 and open 12 2009 mistakenly ( i thought system will not accept). Now current period is 12 2009 and previous period is 11 2009.

Now, i need to back to the first state that is current period is 11 2009 and previous period is 10 2009 -- which is correct.

Please help me to do this.

Hi,

this has been posted in many threads and in previous replies.

MM period once opened cannot be reversed. if you are on live system then please follow the SAP note 48738.

i read the note 48738 but i don't understand the following ..

If you already need this additional security beforehand, implement the

attached correction instructions and create SET/GET parameter

MMPI_READ_NOTE.The SET/GET parameter belongs to development class MG and

should have the following short text:

'Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization '.

In addition, change message MM(016):

'Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization'.

my system is not getting the parameter MMPI_READ_NOTE

how can i create the parameter, Please help.

Hi,

Please put the parameter MMPI_READ_NOTE in the User profile, parameters tab with the parameter value as the current date with the format YEARMMDD with no slashes, spaces in between , save the user profile and then initialize the periods in MMPI transaction.

This must work.

After assigning the parameter MMPI_READ_NOTE when i tried to execute MMPI following error comes

Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization

Message no. MM016

Diagnosis

You want to run the period initialization program. Note that when you start the period closing with initialization, inconsistencies can arise.

Procedure

Note 487381 describes the possible data inconsistencies that can occur if you perform initialization in a productive system. The inconsistencies cannot be traced back to a system error, but instead the period closing with initialization. Therefore, these inconsistencies can only be cleared by using the chargeable remote consulting service. This is because in releases higher than SAP R/3 4.5, the period closer does not normally have to be started with initialization.

Hi,

In the Parameter ID - Pls. put MMPI_READ_NOTE

In the parameter value - Pls. put (if you are doing today) 20091112 and save the user profile.

Then go to MMPI, initialize the required period.

Please check & confirm.

Hai,

In a production system if you have posted the period wrongly that is extremely difficult to revert,we need to reverse all the postings done by means of some z program you need to remove the plantt from assignement to company code and then reverse the period then once agin assign the plant to company code,But it is that easy to do that,only thing you cna do is your current period will become previous and you need allow postings for the previous period in the system

Try Tcode MMPI, - For Intialising the MM Periods ( Not in usage, Only used in case of emergency period changes)

Once MM posting period is closed. It is not possible to reopen

Now it is month of first November. Should SAP accept to close month of November w/o any message at least.

If you are following the Jan to december (jan =1 and Dec =12) for MM postings , then your first posting tells that the November period is already closed. system will not allow you to close November again
