Statistical items from R3 to BCS system

Hello

Do you know if it is already possible to export statistical items (e.g. personnel, units in stock...) directly from R/3 to BCS system ?

or do I have to load from R/3 to excel and load to BCS later ?

Regards

Nic

Hello Nic,

I doubt very much that one will be able to load directly any data from R/3 to BW-based SEM-BCS. Because BCS has it's own staging level: BW. Every data from R/3 is to be extracted to BW infocubes or DSO-objects first. Then BCS will be able directly read this data.

Hej Eugene,

Yes you're right and thinking about financial figures I agree these have to be extracted from R/3 to BCS through infocubes but my question goes to statistical items such as inventory volumes, headcount as thigs like this. Looks these ones have to be uploaded from certain excel files/structured to BCS infocubes but I am not sure. Even if R/3 has these items on its records sounds an extract from R/3 is not possible.

Thank you anyway,

Nic

I'm afraid that you are not right thinking that download of statistical items/qualities/volumes etc. from R/3 to BW is not possible. I did it myself for inventory.

And I know it's possible for almost any info in R/3. If this info leaves in some SAP tables it's easy to built a generic datasource on R/3 side and extract this info to BW. No big deal.

i think there is a little bit of misunderstanding here. i agree that r3 may not have all the data to support bcs-sem's statistical (additional, supplemental, etc.) data available in a format that is easily transferable to a bw box, and it is in fact easier to do an off side upload than trying to think of each and every table in r3 and create an info source for it. a lot of data to support statistical or supplementary reporting is scattered throughout r3, often in a different module, eg. payroll gl balance having the headcount info in hr or depreciation schedule for fixed assets residing in fa module rather than gl. i think similar happens with inventory balances in gl when one needs to pull product costing data that crosses over from pp and/or mm, so to sum it up, it's possible to "connect" anything in r3 to bi, but it sometimes makes more sense (and is more expedient) to load it or even book it manually in sem-bcs

...my 2 cents
