BOM application

Hi all,

What is the purpose of indicators Alt selection and production version in BOM application (TCode OPJM)?

How system selects a BOM for a production order when both indicators are selected? Can anybody explain with an example.

Dear Anil,

Alt selection

1) Say for example you have three Alt BOM's for one Header material

2) Now how Choose those, again u need to define Alternative Determination For Multiple BOM's

3) So based on this slection of Alt BOM take's place in MRP

Production version

this settings is for selecting PV's

I still have one doubt...

If I create a process order with a specific order type, which has a BOM application say PI01 with both indicators (Atl selection and PV) set, then how the BOM is selected (through validity in Alt selection or through PV)?

Hi,

It would be selected throug the Production version only.

reference : SAP help.

"when alternatives are selected automatically according to application, the production versions maintained in the material master record are used as selection criteria."

Dear Anil,

Again it depends on PV's lot sizes

1) first it checks if any PV is locked if so then it will select second PV

2) then it searches for From & to Lot sizes mainatained in BOM & PV ( besed on this it selects)

3) i both are same then default system will take 1st PV
