GeoMap UI Element - IGS - GIS Integration

Hi All,

We want todevelop a sample application on CE 7.1 which retrives information from SAP backend systems and maps it GIS maps.Basially we want to develop an application which uses GIS feastures. I found that whith UI element we can interact with GIS serve thriugh IGS serverr.

I have gone through all related threads, blogs and SAP Notes(994568). I understood that:

1. To use GeoMap UI element, we need to confgure IGS along with GIS server. This configuration needs a special thired party software component.

2. PTV is providing an option (eServer or xServer) to implement GIS in web dynpro.

3. We can't use any GIS server (free and commecial) except PTV.

My questions are:

1. Whether PTV is providing only an interface between IGS and GIS, or Full GIS server. That is do we need to install a GIS server in addition PTV software component or only PTV S/W component is enough to GIS functionality in Web Dynpro.

2. Any body tried GeoMap UI element successfully. If so how you configured IGS server with PTV.

3. Any trial version of PTV is available?

4. Any other possibility is there to use GIS features in in CE 7.1 other than Geomap UI element?.

5. I read ESRI is having partnership with SAP and it is providing Web services which we can use to develop composite applications. Can you provide some information how we can do this? and What is the archetecture?.

Thanks

Sampath G

    Hi,

We have been having the same problems tracking down the mystery component. We have noticed recently that SAP Note 994568 does specifically say that a Graphics Information System (GIS) is must be implemented in addition to the Internet Graphics Server (IGS), and that Planungsbüro Transport Verkehr AG (PTV) is there solution provider for the GIS.

We have contacted PTV to request an evaluation copy of their xMap server so we expect to be able to test this solution soon. I will post an update letting you know how that goes.

    Regards

    Peter
