BOM subitems doesn't appear on sales documents

Former Member

Hi,

I'm wondering how come the subitems doesn't show when adding the main item to a sales

document? The BOM is a sales BOM and the subitems are sales items.

This works perfectly for the other BOM items and we've tested that it works when creating a new sales BOM. However, some of the BOM items are wrong when adding them to a sales document although they are exactly the same as the BOM items which works fine.

Could you please help me?

Hi Gordon,

No, I didn't create the sales document to try if the BOM worked or not. I just added it to a sales document to see if the subitems would show. Some of the BOM main items show, but not the subitems. If I tried one of the BOM items that I know worked fine, the subitems would also show.

So I didn't add the sales document, I just added the BOM to a sales document without creating it. This has got nothing to do with the history of the sales document, that's for sure

Julie: the customer is using version 2005A, SP01, patch 45. I tried running a query on the item master and the BOMs that are wrong, are sales BOM. So I don't understand how come these BOMs are not working as they should.

PL 45 is the version our customer had the issue on. Find note 1154824, there is a query you can run to check if you have the issue.

Can you also check - when the items do not list, do they get issued from stock?

This one is really nasty to get fixed...

Hi again,

I've run the query and got a result. So it seems that we have to report this to SAP again.

I'll see what they have to say and if I can't get any help from them, I'll write you back!

Thanks for your help so far

What version & patch are you using?

One of our customers had a bug where some of the Sales BOMS changed themselves to Production BOMS. Run a query on your Item Master and check the BOM Type in the table.

Hi Lena-Marie Digre,

From your message, you mentioned However, some of the BOM items are wrong when adding them to a sales document although they are exactly the same as the BOM items which works fine.

What was exactly happened? I doubt you need to recreate a new document to try. Something wrong in the history may save some bad info into this document and the easy way would be cancel it.

Thanks,

Gordon

Hi,

Yes, it's only a sales item. Not inventory or purchase.

Do you know what else could be wrong?

Hi Lena.......

Please check whether your finished item is sales item or not. It should be the sales item.

Hi again!

Thanks for quick response.

I tried your solution, but it didn't work. What do I do then?

Thanks.

Hi,

Please check the document setting in administration Module. While doing sales document, whether you have configured to display child item with its parent item or else only parent item to display in the sales document.
