Another issue with coding mask

Hi Experts

I have max lengjth allowed for my proj id is 1.

There are proj id's created from A to Z and for $.

I tried to create new mask with '9', but experienced the following message:

Projects/WBS elements with the editing mask 9 still exist.

Message no. JP011

Diagnosis

There are still projects or WBS elements with edit mask 9 in the system. Therefore you cannot change them.

System Response

Processing stopped.

Procedure

All projects or WBS elements that still use this edit mask must be archived before you can change or delete the edit masks.

Please suggest remidy to enable create new mask.

Dear Siva,

It seems one or more Project Definition & WBS elements exists starting with 9.If you really want to create a mask starting from 9, then you have to delete or archive those WBS element, also deletion may not possible if some fianancial transaction has already been carried out in those WBS element.If you are trying in Sand box, find out how many project defn & WBS elements are there starting with 9.If they are less prefix them with some other alphabet.Then try to create coding mask with 9.But if they are more, then you have to try for some other alpha numberic character.

I dont have any projects created with proj ID '9'

This is the issue with all numericals.Even with 8 or 7 or 6 too.

There are no projects existing in tables PROJ and PROJS.

Did you also check the WBS elements along with the project definition? Please let us know.

I have observed certain WBS elements initiated with '9', Ex: 9704-40

I have modified these elements like, Z704-40

But still the the error message appears.

Have you checked the standard structures in your system? It may be possible that there are some standard WBS/ PD with the mask. Please let us know.

I have checked for std PD and WBS's and no one is existing with project id key 9*

in tables PROJ / PROJS and PRPS / PRPSS see if there are any entries with deletion flag

basically there has to be an entry - secondly even if you cahnge an existing entry to Z it still counts!!
