Oracle 10g upgrade post step exec dbms_scheduler.disable Error

I have upgrade successfully from to oracle and applied all the interim patches and CPUs.

I have almost completed all the post upgrade activities except one, which I am facing the error message as below.

SQL> exec dbms_scheduler.disable('GATHER_STATS_JOB');

BEGIN dbms_scheduler.disable('GATHER_STATS_JOB'); END;

ERROR at line 1:

ORA-27478: job "SYS.GATHER_STATS_JOB" is running

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_ISCHED", line 2805

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SCHEDULER", line 1753

ORA-06512: at line 1

Whereas the below two exec completed successfully

SQL> exec dbms_scheduler.disable('ORACLE_OCM.MGMT_CONFIG_JOB');

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

SQL> exec dbms_scheduler.disable('ORACLE_OCM.MGMT_STATS_CONFIG_JOB');

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

Any idea why the first exec scheduler.disable('GATHERSTATS_JOB'); fails?

I have tried to run it many times, after giving sometime and also restarting database but its of no help
