Calculate evolution "consumption" of disk space by SAP FS (sapdata's...)

Hello,

I need a method (theorical, mathematical or existing one) to calculate the estimation of the consumption of disk space by SAP File systmes for the next 6 month or next 12 months.

The data i have to use is the numbers obtained from the transaction DB02 related to (free space, used space, space history ...) of tablespaces and data files (autoextensible yes and no) in addition of the actual state of the sapdata's partitions (df -k | grep sapdata).

FYI : this procedure is required for an existing production system, and must be used by BC admins, therfore i can't use the estimator descibed here :

Thank you for your help.

Every month, we report in various stats including DB growth. These monthly figures are recorded and graphed. On top of that, I calculate a rolling 12 month average of growth rates (also graphed--add up the previous 12 months growths). At a glance it is easy to see outliers, average % growth in disk usage, free space etc. Takes about a day a month, but great for planning.

There are too many factors influencing database growths, there can't be a general method working for everyone. Think of

- support packages/enhancement packages (do you plan to install any? if yes, which of them?)

- new languages/language supplementations/translations

- functionality/business functions (you plan to add functionality in the next period that will produce additional data?)

- data archiving (do you plan to archive data or is an archiving project already running?)

- connected external systems (you plan to add additional systems that will upload data into the ERP?)

- company decisions (you know if you plan to buy an additional company, sell parts of your current, create new stocks?)

To estimate the growth I usually take the last 12 months, calculate an average value per month and add 10 % security. With that we were able to survive the last 13+ years of our SAP system nicely.
