Dear Kumar,

I have not gone through the whole thread, but as per your last post I can assume that BOM is created in second plant using T.Code CS07 (copy plant assignment) that 's why this difficult situation arrives. In 1 or 2 occasion I had also face the same situation. And as a result I decide not to use or suggest use of this CS07.I don't the know reason or I can say not tried to figure out why this happens. But as of now I can say this is happen due to same BOM group in both plants.

Now do one thing, in plant first create new BOM using CS01 by copying existing BOM.Then delete earlier BOM.Then check it by editing the BOM of same material in alternate plant.

Hi Kumar,

Hope you are fine,

I went throgh all the replies and ur queries and try to simulate the same in mys system.I tried to copy a BOM in CS07 having 2 alternative BOM(XYZ plant ) to another plant(ABC).The production storage location in this BOM component was assigned and extended in this plant but for the plant(ABC) which i am going to copy there was no storage location.

I did successfully and checked in the plant(ABC) for teh same BOM component, storage location was not assigned, when i tried to assign forcibly the same storage location of plant XYZ,it gave me warning message (Message no 29362,storage locatrion not supported for the materil in plant ABC)

From this i can conclude 2 plants shouldnot have storage location code same and same storage loctaions should not be assigned for teh material under 2 plants.

For your BOM is Allocated to other plantsproblem,

This is a std SAP message as you allocated the BOM to 2 different plants.thsi functionality is usefull where commom BOM will be there for different plant and buisness want to control this in a single point. These related BOMs are identified by a common internal BOM number in the standard SAP system

If dont want to have this functionality better you create a BOMs for another plant either by BDC or LSMW having the same data of the existing plant.

Hope it helps

*Kumar,*

*Copying 1 BOM from 1 plant to another plant can be done in Tcode : CS01 itself.*

*The reason for your issue "system is defaultly taking same Creating plant in the pop-up of Copy from+*

**and interesting thing is it is greyed out & i cannot edit it"

might have been that the Header material was not extended from plant1 to plant 2.**

*The changes made in BOM at plant 2 will have no effect on BOM in plant 1 or vice versa.*

*They are different plants so master data for each will be differrent.*

Hope this answers your question

*Thanks,*

Dear All,

Thanks Very much ur response

Now i have Copied one BOM which is having 2 Alts From plant 1 to plant 2

both ALts are copied to plant 2

Now the problem is issue storage location in BOM

if i change storage location in Plant 2, then same stoarge location is also storing in Plant1 ( which is not required & wrong)

where is setting in SPRO to break this relationship

Hi Kumar,

first just go through , below link .

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/EN/a0/1016bd4c8311d189520000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

CS07 is for allcation to other plant.

changing production storage location you can do as next step through mass change of BOM's

"If a bill of material is assigned to several plants, an asterix (*) is displayed in the place of the plant. If it is, there is only one BOM for all plants. Any change you make in one plant is valid in all of the other plants, too."

check below link for allcation to plants.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/EN/a0/1016bd4c8311d189520000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

and i hope it will help you.

check out and revert back.

Kumar,

for coping BOM to another plant using CS07 its same as how we extend material to other plant.

first create all materials in other plant.

create all BOMs in first plant as well as there alternative.

then use CS07 , input all the BOMs you want to copy in second plant in it with plant and alternative details.

before saving press , consitance check.

save it

if there is any inconsistance , you can check details in log.

if , the storage location field is creating inconsistance, remove it from first plant and update it while updating the storage location using mass changes.

check and revert back.

Hi Kumar,

w.r.t your first trail of this thread, I answered saying that, you can copy by using CS01.

This is regular copying. I think you know it.

When you press copy icon, it asks for material, plant and alt.no. Just you have to enter and it will display the BOM f.rom where you have to copy. Select all and press copy icon again. Save it.
