SEM BCS 4.0 with BW 7.x

Hello,

we are using bw-based SEM-BCS 4.0 with BW 3.5. We using BW for much more than SEM-BCS (Reporting, Process chain...) Now, we want upgrade BW 3.5 to 7.0

Can we still use SEM-BCS 4.0 or do we have to do an upgrade to SEM-BCS 6.0???

You'll have to upgrade BCS to 6.0 in order to use BI 7.0.

My client don't like the idea for separate instance for BCS. For me, it's a very interesting method....

But the client is always right....

So let's start with migration...

I agree with Eugene that to use NW 7.0 with BCS in the same environment requires an upgrade of SEM.

However, one alternative I have expereinced with some clients is to add a separate instance of NW 7.0 and keep the BW 3.5 instance for BCS. The BCS result could be exported from BW 3.5 to NW 7.0 environment for reporting if needed.

Agreed with Dan, I've seen the separate BCS 4 on BW 3.5, while the rest of the organisation upgraded to BI7.

NB I'ev also seen it the other way around too - BCS6 and Bi7 while everyone else was on BW3.0
