Focused Build support for ECC system

Hi All,

We are exploring on Focused build in SAP Solution Manager 7.2.

As per our understanding, Focused Build will support for S/4HANA system.

In the same way, can you please let us know if Focused build supports ECC environment or not ?

If yes to what extent and what would be the minimum required Version for ECC to be compatible with Focused Build?

Kindly help us here.

Regards,

Anusha

Hi Anusha

Focused Build is part of quality assurance package for S/4 HANA on-premise implementation projects because there is pre-build content available (roadmap, project template etc).

However, there is no reason why Focused Build couldn't be used in any other fashion though (mostly SAP centric though). There are generic templates available in Focused Build that can be used for maintenance / release projects and you could even define your own. The functionality as such is not tied to S/4 HANA so it can be used for SAP ERP or other SAP products as such which are supported by CHARM in terms of doing deployments. So ERP 6.x shouldn't be any problem I would expect but of course it depends on exact features/functions if there are prerequisites (certain SAP notes for bug fixing or compatibility of certain functionality like downgrade protection might need a specific SAP ERP version).

You can find relevant SAP Note 2344472 referenced here: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/Focused+Build+FAQs

Best regards

Tom
