External table is not in the expected format

Hi all,

I have ran into a couple of problems but this one jumped out ahead of the rest being at the outtermost level. In other words when I get this resolved there will probably be another issue that I saw previously, waiting for me. Anyway, I am getting DAO Error Code: 0xcca - External table is not in the expected format. I am trying to link to an Excel spreadsheet as a db. Never had this problem before. Happens no matter what version of Excel I choose as the format. Any insight as to what could have brought this on?

Use ODBC or OLE DB to connect to Access 2007 and above.
