Daylight savings time

For years we have been taking 1 hour downtime for the "Fall back".

I see that the Iseries now does slow time as we are under 5V4.

Simple question, Do I need to stop SAP during the daylight savings time this year? I think the slow time should work just fine as it does for my Windows SAP instances.

Check SAP Notes 950114 and 7417 (profile parameter zdate/DSTswitch_contloctime) for a solution. I have to admit that I am not aware of anyone using that, but maybe someone who is using this successfully could post his or her experiences here.

Kind regards,

Christian Bartels.

Here in the UK we went back to GMT from BST last weekend. I left the systems up and used the AS/400's "slow time" to effect the change and with no issues. (V5R4 & ECC6).

We don't use the profile parameter zdate/DSTswitch_contloctime as I think this is to let the SAP system do the slow time rather than the underlying OS. Since OS/400 is doing it, it's not required.

Note 391658 mentions that as of V5R3 / 6.40 kernel, you can let it ride in the spring, but to still bring it down in the fall. I thought I'd found a note previously that said on the 7.0 kernel you can let it ride in the fall too ... but I can't find that note now. We always bring at least production down in the fall just to be safe.
