How to schedule a WEBI so that it takes a BGD(background) session in BW

Hi,

We just went live with BOBJ. We have few webis that are running for long time and eventually TIMING OUT. I can understand that because they aer really big financial reports.

When I run WEBI, it is running as a DIALOG user in BW(backend). I even created a background user(type C in BW something like ALEREMOTE) and used that from info-view to run the WEBI by scheduling it.

No matter what I do, it is still triggering a DIA(dialog) session in SM50 on backend BW.

I am thinking there should be a way to schedule a webi report in info-view so that it takes a BGD(background session) in BW, so that the report doesn't time out.

Any ideas please.

Thanks

Nishith

Hi,

as of right now you can not schedule a Web Intelligence report as batch process. the scheduling process is becoming a dialog job.

Thank you Ingo.

This raises two questions for me

1) Any workarounds please. Any ideas as to trigger a BGD session or a webi which is triggering a BEx query running longer than 10 minutes. Since it is taking DIAlog session BW is timing out after 10 minutes, and hence Webi is timing out as well.

2) Any roadmap ideas as to If and When SAP might come up with scheduling a background(BGD) session in BW.

Thanks

Hi there,

Just a suggestion here that is related to this comment "Since it is taking DIAlog session BW is timing out after 10 minutes, and hence Webi is timing out as well." - So could you not raise this time setting at the Universe level to something that is larger than the query execution time so the timeout does not occur.

Cheers.

Hi,

if the scheduling takes longer then 10 minutes you will need to set the time higher on the BW system.
