While creating custom data source in ECC system for BW4HANA which of the following options is advisable (considering future support and maintenance)
1. Creating a Data source in RSO2 and releasing it as ODP Provider.
2. Creating a CDS view and using it as data source.
3. Creating a HANA view and using it as data source.
Hi Elangovan Nagavel,
1st option is almost not advisable now.
CDS views: You can go with this option if you have simple logic or complex logic and it's good option for future maintenance also. It supports Delta also as Yogesh highlighted.
Calculation view : If you have simple logic then you an go ahead with Graphical Calculation view otherwise you need again go with script calculation view to accommodate complex logic and it supports only Full load else you need to have Pseudo delta at BW side if you want.
In summary : Advisable to go with CDS view based extractor.

1. If you want to store the data and process it in BW, then take this approach.
2. If you know CDS then it is also good option. You can also do the delta extraction using the annotations.
3. Possibly try to build your model using HANA views. You can consume it directly in BW query or in any other BO tools with the real time data features.
