Material Cost ( Actual) in PM Order

Hello Experts,

Need your ideas in the solving a Plant Maint issue, which has arisen due to decentralised purchasing in practice.

Current Situation : We have two departments Dept1 and Dept2, responsible for maintainace of Function Locations and Equipments in their respective area. They use common Material Numbers for GI for the order. Dept1 and Dept2 purchase the same material but on their own. Price in material master is Moving price, which gets updated by the most recent purchase by one of these departments. Since the most recent purchase by deparments are at different prices, while capturing the actual cost in Order, business needs to check the current price in the material master. If the material master is updated with the price of other department, they need to get it updated with their lates price before capturing the actual cost in order. Number of materials are around 10 thousand.

Possible solutions:

1. Create another plant for Dept2 and extend all the material ( 10k+) to this new plant which is to be used only by Dept2. Cons - Duplicate Data in the System

2. Create new material numbers for Dept2 by copying existing material. Cons - Duplicate Data in the System Another challenge with the above two approach is : What if a third department faces the same issue in future!!!!

3. (Need to check feasibility) z-tool to edit/update the order's actual cost in case of wrong capture - Cons - Extra step for the User, Does not appear to be a right/appropriate solution.

Thanks and Regards,

Vk

Vk,

Have you considered split valuated stock using the valuation category on the Accounting 1 screen of the material master?
