QAS and Virtual server advice

Hi all,

I am after a little advice I will soon be implementing a QAS system for both our ERP and BI system landscapes, our current setup is that our system landscape has no virtualisation in place, I was wondering if anyone would recommend either having a virtual servers for both QAS ERP and QAS BI or to have a single server with QAS ERP and BI the server will be conneceted to a SAN therefore disk space is not a problem, if I go down the virtualisation route it will be using VMWare and other servers such as WWI, Common store plus more will be inluded, I am looking more towards keeping the QAS system away from virtualisation but need to be sure its the right decision before I recommend this to my boss.

Any comments will be much appreciated.

Thanks

J

Hi,

Thanks for the reply I may not of explained properly, I am trying to decide whether to have my QAS systems in a virtual landscape or a normal server install, I would like to know if there are any advantages or disadvantages to either setup.

Hope this explains a little more.

Thanks

Having your QA system in a Virtual server is not an issue at all, the advantages are clear, you don't require additional hardware, resources management is done on demand, its a greener leaner solution, etc...

SAP supports virtualization, basically you can have your DEV, QAS and middleware systems on virtual servers without issues.

What OS are you using?... Theres plenty of notes in SAP marketplace that can give you a clear idea of whats is supported.

Read SAP Note 674851 - Virtualization on Windows

That should give you all the info you need.

Hi,

Please be more prescribe while posting queries. As I understand to ur statements

If there is no QAS virtual system in ur landscape no probs

Just include the QAS original system into the network and go to Domain controller and create a this new system in

STMS/OVERVIEW/SYSTEMS

SYSTEMS/NEW VIRTUALSYSTEM

once creating the system with QAS id

Go to the newly included system i.e. QAS. Navigate to STMS and chk whether the QAS system is appearing in systems area if not

Go back to domain system and go to stms u will get a popup window and here select the INCLUDE Icon button and chk.
