explore usage of planning strategy 82 in material master.

it has the required functionality asked by you.

this is standard.

otherwise, work on requirement class of the sales order (which you are getting right now in sales order) . its here this creation of Production order is controlled.

Hi Pravin,

I have a similar situation at my place but it is a VC scenario. We are using Strategy Group 25. In this scenario how can i create a Production Order directly from sales order.

Thanks & Regards,

You can also use assemble-to-order for configurable products. Here, the availability check can be carried out at component level only. You may want to use PS =89 (Assembly proc. w. characteristics plng).

Narayana,

Most required details on config given below. As you will see standard SAP settings exist. However in actual implementations you may need to copy this PS into a new PS = Z82 so as to match your number range etc...

All Customizing settings that you require for assembly processing with production orders, such as strategy group, requirements class and order type are already predefined by SAP in the Standard System.

Strategy Groups

The following strategy group is predefined for production orders:

Strategy group 82: assembly processing with production orders

Here, the static procedure (that is, the 1:1 link between production order and sales order) is preset as the assembly type.

Requirements Type and Requirements Class

Strategy group 82 refers to the following requirements type or requirements class in the Standard System.

requirements type KMFA

requirements class 201

Order Type

The following order type for production orders is predefined in the requirements type 201:

Order type PP04: Production order with assembly processing

If, for some reason, you want to use an order type that is different to the one predefined by SAP, you must make sure that the following scheduling parameters are set for the order type:

Key u2018Backward schedulingu2019u2019

Indicator u2018Adjust basic datesu2019u2019

If you use all the standard system settings, you do not need to make any additional settings in Customizing:

Bills of Material

For assembly processing with production orders, the finished product must have a valid bill of material.

Hope this helps. Also if you need dynamic procedure instead of SAP delivered the static procedure you may want to create a Z82 Planning strategy. If you have more questions please come back.

Dear Ram

Thanks for the detailed steps involving planning

But is there a way to create Prod order without using planning.

As we are using NOT Planning strategy.

Best regards

Shankar

you guys can figure out which requrirement type/ class is getting called in sales order.

look on procurement tab of the sales order.

and then go to the custmising for Sales and Distribution>Basic Functions>Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements>Transfer of Requirements> configure the requirement class accordingly.

for referance use the requirement type KMFA as referance.

Narayana,

Planning strategy 82 is the best & standard way of getting production order created on sale order create.

Not sure why you dont want to use PS but this is very simple to implement. You put this PS in MRP 3 view under strategy group & follow some steps given in my earlier email & you are all set...

If not then using sale order reqt type ( KMFA- Assembly with production order) & assigning this to your sale order item category is also another way to create prodcution order without using planning strategy in material master.

Follow steps in SPRO-->Sales & dist --> basic functions >avail check &transfer of requirements> transfer reqts-->determination of reqt type using transaction. Here you may select the item category you in sale orders & assign KMFA to your item category. this will then give option in sale order create to change reqt type to KFMA for assebly orders.

If you need KFMA to be default assign it to Item cat/ MRP type ( PD) combo.

Hope this answers your question completely now

Thanks,

Ram

narayana,

since you need production order on sale order create you need to go for what is known as Assembly production orders in SAP. the most common planning strategy you can use for this is 82 ( Assembly processing w. production orders).

An assemble-to-order environment is one in which the product or service is assembled on receipt of the sales order. Key components are planned or stocked in anticipation of the sales order. Receipt of the order initiates assembly of the customized product. Assemble-to-order is useful where a large number of finished products can be assembled from common components.

If you need more details please come back.
