Hi Everyone,

We have a client running their sap on single system landscape with following configuration Widows 2000 server, SAP version 4.6c and SQL 2000 Database ( approx db size is 60 GB)

Our client is planning to change few HDD's in sap system as they had some issues with existing hard drives. Actually this requirement came up for one of old client and now they have come back to us for our assistance during this activity.

Someone please guide me what are the consideration we should follow during this activity. As I haven't had good experience in handling backup / restore activities.

Please note they are using SAPDBA utility for taking backup / restore. I have listed out few activities which are in my mind. I would really appreciate if someone please review and add if I missed out any point.

1) Database offline backup using SAPDBA tool (or) using DB13(Database Calendar)

2) File System backup.

3) Shutdown the application server.

4) Replace new HDD

5) File system restore

6) DB Restore

7) Start sap application server.

😎 perform DB check using SAPDBA tool

9) Perform consistency check in sap.

Also if some can share the procedure for Database backup and restore using SAPDBA tool for SQL would be much helpful.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Best Regards,

Vinod

Hi Vinod,

The HDD which is present on server is mirrior HDD or no mirrior parition created ??

As well as let us know , the HDD which is present on server is working as an single drive on server or it is ditributed to all the drives present on server which is used for storing sap data

Thanks
