performance of builders in new install of PI 7.1 w Enh 1

New install of SAP NW PI 7.1 w Enh 1 @ SPS 3 on db2 9.5.4 on RHEL V5.2 under VMware ESXi (1 CPU, 5G mem).

I've configured Exchange Profile for SSL, (so https and p4s is used throughout).

While working in SAPGUI or the browser performance is acceptable, but try calling one of the builders,

ie Enterprise service builder or integration builder

and ifs time for coffee!

Are there RMI specific pools that should be tuned?

Would a SolMan 7 Perf Opt Self Service help?

There seem to be SSO issues with RMI. Would authentication via cert help?

Right now I select ESB from .../dir link, get prompted for auth for download of jnlp. prompted to select cert from empty list. cancel and get prompted for user/pswd. The builder displays its splash screen and I go for coffee at the local Tim Horton's down the street. While in builder and connected you click on something that requires information from PI, go for another coffee!

Do the builders make use of hardware virtualization assist? vmware xp pro at work also has no perf problems either.

Are there CLIENT OS release restrictions for using builders? At home on Win XP home SP 3 builder load takes 10-20 minutes. Java client trace indicates lookup failure of ACLBean. At work on Vista 64 SP 1 builder load is seconds. Note by builder load I mean time from when splash screen displayed to when graphic display opens. Same release of JDK 1.6. XP Pro also seems to have same issue.
