Packaging Problem with Add-on Packager

Hi Folks

I was trying to add a custom component using Add on manager.for the first time I installed the component and its working fine.

Then I made some changes to the Add-on Packager and reinstalled the component.

Now a folder with two versions of components are coming in the list. However I installed only one version of the component.

I am confused about this behavior of xcelsius. Why this problem occurs and how to solve this problem?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Which version of Xclesius 2008 (Service Pack and Fix Pack) are you using?

There was a bug (which really only affected add-on developers) that was fixed a while back (in a Fix Pack before SP2 I think) in that when you remove an add-on, one config file was left behind.

Because the config file is based on the add-on name (with a unique GUID on the end) you would then end up with two versions of the config file (one with the old add-on name and one with the new add-on name) both referring to the same class so you get two entries in Xcelsius.

Here is what you can do to clean it up:

1. Remove your add-on.

2. Close Xcelsius.

3. Then look in this folder:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius\assets\styles\all\xml

4. Look for an XML file that use sthe old name of your component (with a unique GUID on the end) and delete it.

5. Start Xcelsius and re-install your add-on.

6. That should have sorted it out.
