Oracle Home

Hi,

I am running Oracle 10g on Windows and AIX.

Due to space issues, I need to change my ORACLE_HOME directory to a different drive on the Windows machine.

Besides doing a new Oracle installation, is there any other way to perform this move?

    Hi,

You can take a original oracle_home backup and place the same in different disk, then change the oracle_home env path.

Before going to start you need to rename old oracle_home.

*This is not recommended one as might be a change to get issues, for smooth run just install oracle in the new location.

    Hello Steven,

Of course .. it is called cloning.

    Microsoft Windows x64 : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15681/install.htm#BBAIFCGB

    Microsoft Windows (32-Bit) : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14316/install.htm#BBAIFCGB

    Regards

it's not that much work to uninstall Oracle and re-install it in another location.

Once you uninstall, cleanup the oraInventory directory.
