Combination of movement type 309 and 241

Dear all,

we would like to transfer one material (valuated) to another material (none valuated), whereas the material value is posted to an asset and not to consumption as standard Mvt 309 is doing.

We have some, lets say, expensive service materials which are partly sold to external customers and partly used in our internal Service Organization. If the materials are used internally we would like to Transfer the material value to an asset and use ordinary depreciation process for it. But since these materials have to be send around the world and returned from time to time back for calibration to the Headquarters/external vendor, we need this material quantity on stock as well, since we want to track the movements in SAP in order to know where the parts are currently located.

Does anybody have a hint, how this can be achieved best? Custom movement type or workflow with two separate material movements, etc.? Has somebody experience with a similar process?

Best regards

    Hi Heinz,

In OMJJ for movement type 241 enable MIGO as allowed transactions. then in MIGO you can post the stock to an Asset code. To increase the stock of non-valuated material you can use movement type 512 & increase the stock.

Solved with a custom movement type transfering the quantity of the valuated material to a non-valuated one an the value of the material to an asset.
