Empty MLAN entry is created when saving Sales Gen Plant view for Material Master

Hello,

Scenario:

I create a material (with Sales General Plant view). In this moment in MLAN table a blank entry (only the country - "DE" for example, but not the taxes) is inserted.

After, I want to extend this material also for Sales Org. data/views using the MMCC transaction (with "Do Not Change Existing Data" checked).

Issue:

When the Tax data are copied from the reference material, the system sees that for country "DE" (for example) there is (in the new material) already a line (which has no tax data) and is leaving this line as it is.

For the other countries (if the material has also others) the taxes are correctly maintained.

This is creating issue for our Sales Department because they are finding tax data without any tax classification inserted (for certain countries).

I have found an archived thread very similar with my question, but without a resolution that suits me: https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3963740

There could be an OSS note that will change the system in such manner to not insert the empty line in the MLAN table while creating the Sales General Plant view, or which could be the most elegant solution to solve this issue, considering that I don't want to change the above described process ?

Thanks!

Mario

Hi Mario,

2 Options.

1. Either update reference material with Tax classification so that tax is copied to the new material.

2.Use transaction code MM01 ( You need to check your authorization) and there you can specify reference material in field "Copy from Material".

Then you select needed views, enter Org. Levels and go ahead with material creation.

Advantage of option 2 over transaction MMCC is that you can see and also changed the data which is copied from reference material.

Thanks and Regards

Hello Murtuza,

Thank you for the answer.

Unfortunately none of the options are feasible.

1. Doesn't matter if the reference material has a Tax Classification because when i use MMCC, I have "Do Not Change Existing Data" field checked and the system will see that the new material already has an entry in the MLAN table (because I have create it for the Sales General/Plant Data and it is not copying the Tax Classification data for that country to the new material.

2. Is not an option because I need to use the flow as I described it (Create a material MM01 without the Sales Org. tabs but with Sales General/Plant Data tab and after use MMCC to extend this material also for Sales Org. tabs)

Thank you anyway!

Call transaction OVK1, check valid tax category is maintained for the country you're using and in transaction OVK4, check valid tax classification is maintained for your country's tax category.

Thanks Rosh, but everything is set there and I don't think it could solve my issue.
