Hi Team,
Kindly can you explain me in brief about Time types,Time pairs and time balances.Do we need to create them or they are automatically generated by the system when we run Time evaluation?
Kindly explain it with a scenario.
Regards,
Vimal
Hello all,

Time Pair - this concept will be used in positive time evaluation, where time recording will be followed. Clock In will be a time entry, in the same way clock out will be the equivalent entry. Clock in and Clock out together will be known as a time pair.
Time Type - Time Type is the object in which the calculated time will be stored during time evaluation. this will be used only in time evaluation internal tables
Time Balance - time calculated after time evaluation
You have to configure time type in the table V_T555A and processing type in the table V_T10V.
SAP has delivered some standard time types and processing types. You may need to create your own according to the business requirements.
These standard time types are generated imt eh time evaluation because they are already used in the standard rules. If you have your own time type and processing type, you have to include them in your PCRs(Personnel calculation rules) to generate them in the time evaluation run.
Time pair:
Time pair is generated in the Time evaluation by the function TYPES (in schema TM04 ) or by the function TIMTP (In schema TM00).To generate this time type, the table T555Y needs to be configured.
Hi Venkat,
As per my understanding from your answers T555A and T555Y are already confirgured in standard SAP system and if the client requires any new things then we need to create new things in these tables and incluse in respective PCRs/Functions?
Kindly let me know if i am wrong.
Also let me know a scenario where client will require entries other then the standard SAP entries.

Vimal
Yes thats correct.
We always create custom time types for reporting purposes and to use in PCRs.
one example :If company have Paid leaves and unpaid leaves and SAP has given processing type A for the all the absences.
If you need to separate paid and unpaid absences, then you ahve to create a new processing type for example U for unpaid absences in t510V and you can create a time type for unpaid absences and configure T555Y to generate this processing type and time type pair.
This is just one example, there will be so many such scenarios.
Hi,
Time types are semantic groupings of time spans. The balances formed in time evaluation are posted to time types. They determine whether balances should be cumulated in a particular time type on a daily or monthly basis.
The standard SAP system contains the most common time types. You can add your own entries if these are not sufficient.
The meaning of the time types is taken from time evaluation's personnel calculation rules. The standard time types are as follows:
0002 - Planned working time from daily work schedule
0003 - Skeleton time (times which qualify as planned work)
0005 - Flex balance (difference between 0003 and 0002)
0010 - Attendance (generated or from time events)
0020 - Recorded absences (infotype 2001)
0030 - Recorded attendances (infotype 2002)
0040 - Overtime worked
0050 - Productive hours (total of 0010, 0030 and 0040)
You should only create new entries if the standard time types are not sufficient for your purposes.
Time Pairs are each of ur time is assigned to a processing type like planned.Overtime,Attendance,Absence etc.Check table T555Y.
Time Balances are the value in hrs are taken in them and stored in internal Tables.
TES: Day Balances
SALDO: Monthly balances etc
Let me know if u have further Questions
Thanks
Swati
