We have no problem with the message server. Only on messenge server can run. both system are installed on the the physical host, but with a virtual hostname and with a seperate ip-address. any suggestions?

regards,

Alexander

Hello, I thought from a technial position it should be possible, because they are running on different ips. for example in apache you can create several instances on the same port as long as they have different ip addresses.

I do not know how you do virtualization, try to check log's as i'm post, and also are only one services file? can you check the sapmsSID in this files ... Regards.

Hi Alexander,

No, the instance number (and SID) need to be unique to the hardware you are installing on. The SAP system will install on a virtual host, but in the default configuration the SAP ports will listen on all available IP-addresses. You will need to install the second system using another instance number.

Also, on AIX be aware that the nimsh process will occupy port 3901 - the installation process may default to installing the SCS with instance number 01 which will conflict with j2ee/ms/port.

Hope this helps,

Best regards,

Walter

also with instance number 00

both are 00 ? I do not know AIX, but i'm think you can check for example as on WIN-UNIX system --> the services file, or check

command like netstat -a and see what both after start try's to use one port .... Why you install both with same number?

Try to check also dev_disp log in work folder.

Regards.
