how to create a variable on Bex Query Designer

Hello Experts,

I have been assigned to create a query which should include several restrictions. Our data includes several areas such as material number, creation date, QA status, KK status, source system and serial number. My objective is to make a query which should include QA, KK, date and material number. However, my supervisor wants to see the breakdown of the material by serial number but not serial numbers itself. The query should just show how many of the same material there are so we can manage the stock efficiently. I have found out that I need to create a variable but I cant figure out how to design it to work for me. I am including several screenshots of the project so all of you can understand it better. My programs are in Turkish. Tarih is date. If there is anything you dont understand, feel free to ask.

Best regards

Kaan

Hi,

Sorry I did not understand your requirement. Can you post a screen of your DESIRED RESULT? I think SS3 is not your desired output, right?

I did not understand this:

The query should just show how many of the same material there are so we can manage the stock efficiently.

Hello Loed,

thanks for your reply. Here is the thing, we have both serial number and material number for the same product/material or whatever you want to call it. Therefore, the biggest seperator of these products are the serial numbers since they are all unique for each product. However, my supervisor does not wish to see it in the final result of the query in anyway (not in the table or filters), but he wishes to see how many products exist with the same material number but with different serial number. Sorry for it not being clear. Hope I was able to explain what is required.

Best regards

Hi,

You may drag the MATERIAL NUMBER in your ROWS section then create a FORMULA in the COLUMNS section, just enter 1..Under the aggregation tab, choose SUMMATION with reference characteristic to MATERIAL NUMBER..
