Hi,

We have a requirement where we receive the Customer order for say 500 pcs to be delivered in week 48. But due to capacity constraints we have to split the requirement manually for 125 for week 45, 46, 47, 48. So we need to create PIR's for such weeks 45-48 & then create Planned Orders with MRP. Now, problem is if I use Strategy 40 & create PIR as specified above, the PIR's are already consumed by Sales order. How can I customize a new strategy to manage this?

Hello

I don't think that a planning strategy would resolve this issue. It is not a problem to have a single planned order of 500 PCs, as long as you have the order start and finish date calculated correctly. You can use a distribution key on the production version if you want to see the planned order distributed over the weeks.

Another alternative is to play around with your lot sizing procedure and define a maximum or a fixed lot sizing procedure, in order to generate several planned orders. You can use a takt time to spread these orders over the weeks or use capacity leveling to dispatch them according to your capacity constraints.

Hi Caetano,

Thanks for your response. We have agreed to have PIR's created manually against Sales Order & use strategy 10 & thats how business wants it. But the problem is that strategy 10, doesnt consider Customer Requirement thus we cant see correct stock. For Example

How can we handle this? I want to customize my strategy in a way that I can see the Stock correctly.

Of course that strategy 10 does not consider the customer requirements, this is exactly the purpose of this strategy.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't think you will be able to met your business requirements using PIRs. If you choose a planning strategy where sales order requirements are relevant to MRP, then they will consume the PIRs and the whole requirement will be on the sales order date. If you choose a strategy like 10, then sales orders will not be relevant to MRP.

The best way to address this requirment is to split the planned order, using a different lot sizing procedure.

Hi Caetano,

I know that Strategy 10 doesnt consider CReq thats a reason I am looking for a way to customize a new strategy copying 40 where PIR's doesnt get consumed by CReq but at the same time Customer Requirements should not be considered for MRP thus no Planned Order for Customer Req. I know this doesnt sounds logical but thats how I need it. Is it possible ?
