Charts not displayed on Enterprise XI 3.1

Former Member

We are upgrading our Crystal Enterprise from 9 to XI 3.1 and our report development tool from 9 to 2008. We have some reports that generate a chart image along with the data. When running the report from Enterprise, the data appears but the charts do not show up. I can however open the report in CR 2008 and run it within the development tool and see the charts. The reports were originally created in CR 9, and I have tried saving them to the server in CR 2008 but get same results. The reports usually ran as PDF format, but running them as Crystal Reports format doesn't show the charts either.

Is there something we could be missing on the Enterprise server? A service pack or plug in? Any help you could give would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi,

does this happen for all CR reports which charts or do you have some that are displayed without a problem?

Is it happening with .Net InfoView with AD/NT authentication?

It doesn't seem to matter if I sign on to the CMC or InfoView, or if I use Enterprise or Windows AD authentication... the charts do not display for any reports generated from within Enterprise. We even have some that get sent via email to the user, and that user is not even logging in to Enterprise, just opening the attached report in the email... and the attachment does not show the charts, just the data and a blank area where the charts should be.

Hi,

please locate MetafileRenderer.jar file under <BOBJ installation directory>\Tomcat55\webapps. Is there a copy of the file available under the CrystalReports subfolder?

Yes... the folder above contains the file you mention.

Hi

copy the MetafileRenderer.jar to <BOBJ installation dir>\Tomcat55\webapps\SAP\WEB-INF\lib and restart the Tomcat.

Question before doing this... will this have any effect for reports that do not connect to SAP? Currently we do not have any SAP reports that generate a chart.

Hi,

my experience is that CR reports use the JSPs in the SAP folders or not depending on the kind of prompts they utilize (after the int.Kit is installed). Do you have any prompts with dynamic LOVs or cascading prompts in your legacy reports?

Hi

BTW is the file already available in the SAP\WEB-INF\lib folder?

Yes, it is currently in the SAP subfolder you mention.

No, we do not have any prompts with dynamic LOVs or cascading prompts in any of our reports.

We copied the file from the CrystalReports subfolder to the SAP subfolder, restarted Tomcat, even rebooted the box too. Still no charts showing up.

It does appear that the SAP Integration Kit had something to do with this issue. When looking at the history, reports that were ran before the Integration Kit was installed generated a chart. Around the time of the install of the kit, is when the charts disappeared. Another thing noticed... only history run as PDF before the installation of the kit contains a chart image. History run as crystal report format before the installation of the kit (at a time when the charts were known to be working) seems to have lost the chart images.

I must admit I am out of ideas here. There as a similar problem in BO XI 3.0 but this was due to the missing MetafileRenderer.jar. But the file is already available in the correct folder.

Are you able to see charts in reports which have been built from the scratch using the CR 2008 designer?

We believe this is fixed. Everything seems to be working now. Here are the notes from the network engineer who found the solution...

The fix is to find the sscsdk80.dll & hs_pgsdk32.dll files in the cab files either from the CR2008 or CR2008 SP1 installs and place them in the c:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 directory. These files will need renamed without the guid after the extension that appears in the cab file. It is also very likely that hspgsdk32.dll isn't even needed for this fix but it was copied to the win32_x86 directory first, before the sscsdk80.dll file that finally got it working.
