J2EE restart after deployment in PI 7.1 / EHP1

Hello,

I know that from PI 7.1 on, after each deployment with JSPM (e.g. of an .sca file) the J2EE engine will restart. That was not necessary in XI 3.0 / PI 7.0. Is this restart really necessary after EACH deployment? I heard it is possible to deploy without restarting the J2EE engine?

I also heard that with EHP1, this restart after each deployment is not necessary any more. Do you have further information on this?

Thanks,

Christoph

Hi,

thanks, very helpful! I will give it a try.

Last question: What changed with EHP1 concerning deploy workflow strategy?

Thanks,

Hello,

I tried EHP1. Most deployments (adapters) don't force a restart any more. Great thing.

Thanks.

Hello,

thanks for this hint.

Well, actually I am not talking about a "standard" PI patch, but about a third party sca file (e.g. adapter module). In X 7.0, I did not have to restart the J2EE engine after I deployed this sca file, in PI 7.1 I obviously hafe to. But AFAIK the JSPM can be started with an option not to restart the JSPM during / after deployment. This SAP note does not mention this. Is there any information about this option?

Thanks,

Christoph
