Hi all,
I have one question. In our organization solman 3.2 is currently installed.my doubt is whether i have to upgrade it to solman 7.0 or solman 3.2 is still supported by sap maintenance strategy.if i have to upgrade it to solman7.0 then does sap charge any cost for it or it is free of cost.
Hi Pranav
You can generate keys on Solution Manager 3.2 as of SP4 - see note 811923 for details
The only potential problem will be if PPMS definitions -for example new products like PI 7.1 etc
are not delivered in Solution Manager SPs
If your landscape is going to be Netweaver 700 or higher I would recommend to use the equivalent
Solution manager version 4.0 or higher
If you just use Solution Manager to generate keys then perhaps you can just do a fresh installationwithout
too much disruption to operations
- you will however need to add the systems that existed in your 3.2 system (manually or via RFC) - unless
these were obtained via SLD where you might be able to reconnect the new Solution Manager system
- you will also organically add new systems as you install them
Best wishes
Stuart

Hi Stuart
We are using ECC 5.0 with kernel 640 and solman 3.2 also with 640.at present only the systems has been included into solman using smsy and nothing else has been done.now i want to configure solman completely (fro example, service desk, charm, solution monitoring,etc.).for that i want to use solman 7.0 and then want to configure it so that in near future i dnt have to upgrade it.
so kindly suggest me what will be the best option, upgrading solman 3.2 to 7.0 or jst doing fresh installation of solman 7.0 on my solman and then including other systems and configuration.
Also: You need to have the SAP solution Manager to generate the key during the upgrade, and you will need to be on Solution Manager release 3.2 SP8 or higher to make it work (note: 805390).
Thanks,
Dr. Berg

Hi,
SOLMAN 3.2 is not supported by SAP and you can upgrade to SOLMAN 7.0 and there will be no cost involved.
