MDM PI Adapter

HI Experts,

In MDM 7.1 by make use of PI adapter can we still need to genarate XML files and keep that in Port folder.

anybody through some light on syndication process.

Hi Kiran

1) You should have instaled SAP MDM Syndicator

2) Load SAP MDM Syndicator? select your repository enter interface language, login and password

3) create syndication map and run syndication process

4) save output file

For turn automatic syndication you need install syndication server

and did some tuning in SAP MDM Console

Just I wanted to know that how MDM PI adapter will work in MDM7.1 ?

In MDM 5.5 we used to genarate XML files from syndication server & kept in ready folder. Then XI system will pick that file from port and processed.

How MDM PI adapter works in this scenario.

In MDM 7.1, the work in MDM part is same as MDM 5.5.The main difference is at PI part. In PI communication channel configuration,you should choose MDM Adapter instead on File Adapter. When the XML file is generated to the Port folder by Syndication Server,PI will fetch it immediately(In file adatpter,it will not picked until the file adapter checks the folder).When PI processing is done,it will move the XML file from Ready folder to Archive Folder too.

To sum up,in MDM 7.1,

1) You do not need to deploy FTP server.

2) The data file will be picked by PI immediately.

With MDM 7.1 PI adapter extra features are:

1. Dedicated space available and preconfigured in XI connecting to MDM ready folders. Hence no need for FTP enablement and changing the distribution path etc.

2. Pooling is on continuous mode for picking the files from Ready folders.

Hi,

Even in MDM 5.5, it is not necessary to use FTP server for PI to pick/send files to MDM. If you share the MDM Ready folder with the PI System user, it can directly pick the file from MDM with the set interval in PI adapter. We are using this feature with no problem.

For MDM 7.1, As explained above the Inbound and Outbound process are same, PI can push the file to Inbound Ready folder with no wait time.
