SAP Enterprise search, embedded search and Sharepoint

A potential project i'm working is the integration of SAP DMS and Sharepoint. The aim is to allow users to search and find documents in both places regardless of where they are stored.

First of all, has anybody done a project on this, or do you have any good ideas to share?

Our current idea is to use enterprise search as the search mechanism into SAP DMS, and use it as a search provider for the search functionality in sharepoint. Whether the top level is MS Search server or SAP ES is still not decided. If we go with MS Search server as the client, we need Enterprise search to be a Open Search server.

Hi Espen,

While I can not give you a direct feedback regarding your exact use case (i.e. SAP DMS, SharePoint), SAP supports the OpenSearch standard as of NetWeaver Enterprise Search 7.0 SP03 (check [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwes70/helpdata/EN/45/a8f89eec3f401b9099f799edbb75a6/frameset.htm] for more details), and allows the use NetWeaver Enterprise Search as a search service provider.
