Hidden key figures calculated when we launch a query

0 Kudos

Hello,

When we launch a query we don't want our hidden key figures to be calculated.

Do you have a solution?

Our goal is to create a big query (50 free characteristics) and 90 indicators in a report but with 3 caracteristics in line and 5 key figures in column (but 85 partially hidden). Our problem is that we want these hidden key figures to be calculated just if the user choose it to appear in the report. Is it possible?

Thanks a lot for your help.....

pomona

Hello!

I dont think you can avoid calculating the key figures if it is included in the query. Imagine your query structured in the query designer as a SQL. What happens in the background is that the SQL executes calculates all the fields and returns the result set. Your front end reordering will just hide or unhide fields based on settings in the query designer. So once included it will be calculated.

Hi

once the keyfigures are part of the query defintion i.e., either in rows/columns, the OLAP does calculate the keyfigure values but just that the keyfigures are not displayed at run-time.

Hi,

Try with this option;

In the properties of keyfigure in Display Tab --> Hide --> Hide ( Can be shown).

First try with one or two keyfigures, if it works then you can maintain the same option for the remaining keyfigures.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Thanks for your answer.

We already use the option "Hide ( Can be shown)" but also with this option, key figures are calculated at the beginning of the query (also if is is not shown).
