Costing

HI all,

We have a material maintained in 2 plants, but the BOM is maintained in only one plant where it is produced. Now how can I cost the material in the second plant where the BOM is not maintained. There are lot of components in the BOM and all of them are not existent in the second plant where it is to be costed. What am I supposed to do?

Hi sachin,

To run the costing in planning plant using production plant BOM, you need to assign special procurement key in COSTING 1 View instead MRP2. assign this for the material in planning plant.

in costing 1 view, in quantity structure data assign SpecProcurem Costing as 40 or 80 then run CK11N in planning plant for the material. then update using CK24 transaction. Hope this will help you.

Dear Sachin,

In my understanding you cannot carryout the costing (may be a live one or a simulated one) for the product in the second plant

where the BOM is not maintained.

Simulated costing or the cost rollup will be taken only in the production plant.

In case if you are interested to take the costing rollup separately(only for simulation purpose) then you should maintain the BOM

component's and also the routing details in the second plant,then only this can be achieved.

Check and revert back.

Hi Mangalraj,

I do not want to maintain all the master data in the Planning plant for that material, so I think I need to go ahead with with the special procurement key 40 or 80 which Prasobh has suggested. I need some more information on these special procurement keys.

Sachin,

You need to maintain this keys in the Planning plant using transaction OMD9. Once the keys are defined in the planning plant with special procurment plant code as your mfg plant then assign the special procurement key in material master MRP3 view.

1) if manufacturing is not Happning in Planning plant, then i think no point of costing here in planning plant

2) Just mainatin SPK As suggested by Experts

3) But as per my knowledge only in manufacturing plant costing should & will be taken place

4) planning plant should be only For planning purpose

I have created a SP key for the planning plant using "80 - Prdn in other plant" and assigned the same in the planning plant. Now what am I required to do for the price to be updated in the costing 2 view so that it should be similar to production plant?

Dear Sachin,

1) As per my knowledge in planning plant we maintain master data ( no transcational data)

2) so costing will take place only in Manufacturing plant

Sachin,

Can you explain the purpose of the Planning Plant. I hope you would be making sales from this plant. I would suggest you to run costing run for both Production Plant(First) and Planning plant. Based on the SP system would update the standard cost in the material master of the planning plant also.

In the planning plant maintain the special procurement key 40 or 80, so when costing is run for this it would do the cost roll-up for the material in production plant and then it would update the same there and in planning plant.
