Extract Data to make change to a BPS Cube

Hello,

I need some help from you experts. I have a BPS Cube for a Marketing Layout that I have set up so people can enter their budgets. Well, the cube needs a field removed and in order to do so, we have to delete the data from the cube.

My question is, how do we export that transactional data so we can then reimport it back in. I'm not sure if its as easy that, but could use some advice.

Thanks so much in advance

    Hi there,

    In fact that's pretty easy...

Right-click over your InfoCube and choose generate export datasource. Now you have build a datasource 8<infocubename>

create a new InfoCube copy from the original BPS InfoCube, and create transformation (or update rules/transformation rules). map all the fields from BPS original cube to the copy cube and load the data from the BPS original cube to the copy cube.

After that delete all the contents of your original BPS cube, and delete the field that you wish. Generate the export datasource from the copy cube and also create transformation (transfer rules/update rules) from the copy cube to the original BPS cube. Mapp all the fields except the field you have removed before.

Send all the data from the copy cube to the original BPS cube.

There's also the option of remodeling (with remodeling you don't need to delete the data, but just for best practice make a copy of your data to a copy cube, so in case you have problems with remodeling, you always have a copy of your data)

    Diogo.

    Hi,

    1. to extract your data you can use the transaction LISTCUBE and save the selected data as a csv-file

    2. create a flatfile datasource with the file structure of your extracted csv-file

    3. switch planningcube to load-mode via context menu

    4. load csv-file into planning cube

    3. switch planningcube back to planning mode

    Regards, Clemens
