SU coversion exit

What is SU coversion exit, When i am defining the number ranges I see the SU conversion exit difination. Why do we use this difination ?

Hi,

That determines the length of SU number to be stored to database table LEIN. Incase the number either Internal / External is less than the lenght mentioned in the Conversion exit, it will pad zeroes to that number and store it in the database.
