Automatic notifications are not working

Hi experts,

We are setting the system monitoring from our Solution Manager 7.2 SP6. In general, everything is working fine, but we are not be able to receive automatic emails despite that there are alerts in the inbox.

We have followed several notes like:

  • 2219816 - How to troubleshoot Notification issues in Technical Monitoring
  • 2569610 - Troubleshooting for notification issues in System Monitoring and Alert Inbox
  • 2559579 - No automatic notifications, incidents ...

But the issue persists.

Please, could you help me?

Hi Luis and thanks,

I've checked and applied the first two notes (before open the message) and doesn't solve the problem. I'm not sure if the following notes you suggest me applie for my case.

I created and ID Recipient in the "Global Recipient Pool" but not in the "Recipient List" Then I've added that ID in the Recipients for the Alert.

If I create a notification manually from the alert inbox the email worsk fine!!

Can I have something wrong in this side?

Did you applied SAP Note

2553168 - Automatic Notification, Automatic Incidents and Alert Reactions are not triggered, from KBA

2559579 - No automatic notifications, incidents ?

If so, please check following SAP Notes, as it can be a hierarchy issue or either a directory issue:

2317766 - Issues with event hierarchy

2579563- Inconsistencies in System Monitoring Configuration after multiple activations in a row

2539077 - ST_PI extractors are being deleted erroneously during configuration (7.2) SP 02 to SP 06

2515583 - Extractors missing after upgrade in Solution Manager SP 05 to SP06

After reviewing all these SAP Notes, I would recommend to make sure following SAP Note is applied then run cleanup for hierarchy and directory:

-SAP Note ##2192841 - Status propagated from Technical Instance, Database or Host is incorrect

Then run following workaround:

  • MAI_TOOLS / Check directory consistency (run 3 options on this report to clear / detect inconsistencies
  • Report ACR_ADJUST_DIRECTORY_CONTENT (untick test mode box and mark the rest)
  • Report ECE_CHECK_MES_DB_RULE_MTR, run it for specific Managed System affected (untick testmode box)

After running reports, propagate configuration again from SOLMAN_SETUP / Application operations / System Monitoring / step 5 select MO / step 6 run apply and activate.

If workaround doesn't works, open an incident in SV-SMG-MON-ALR-DIR and add all steps you performed and SAP Notes you applied.
