Could I use select expert with SAP BW query

Hi Guru:

Could I use select expert with SAP BW query?

For example, I have a BW query with variables and free characteristics.

I want to create select expert on the free characteristics.

I want to do that rather than use BW variable as the crystal select expert is more flexible and I could write some logic in the formula.
