Project System structure for Telecom domain

Hi all of you,

Our client is in to telecom engineering services and have number of sites to develop and support technically. Currently, they are splitting up their projects according to regions and Circles then in to number of sites. The regions and the circles are not dependent on the projects since they have unique regions and circles. They require to take reports at project: region: circle level and region, circle reporting across the projects. Do we have this facility like region/ circle assignment to the WBS elements? If yes, give me some stuff to resolve.

this can be achieved by using the user defined fields as these are attributes of a project and coding mask usage in my opinion is a waste

you can also use paramneters like profit centre, or cost centres to represent regions etc

fucntional location can be sued if you using Plant maintenance module else not preferred

Location is an integrated field with MM and CO and I would avoid using it solely for PS

Suggest to define each Region or Circle as the company code.

One of the option is, you can different coding mask for the different regions. And use that coding mask for the projects, that are being executed under that region. And this way, you can get clear picture about the number of projects being excuted, closed under a particular region.

Hi Ramki,

For every WBS, under Assignment TAB there are fields called Location and Functional Location. You can try using the same for Region / Circle for your projects to fetch the data and call the same in Reporting. But ensure that you don't have any actual data entry already for those fields Location & Func. location.

Else, you can create user fields for Circle / Region and call the same in Reporting.
