Hi, pls advise the general practice whether we need to define both mrp group parameters and plant parametr or only any one of two for particular plant? pls also advise how oppr parametrs will effect the md01 results?
Hi,
As Mangalraj explained,
We can use either MRP group parameter or Plant parametr. But if you use both, MRP group has higher priority.
Say you are maintaining different strategies in material master . Now you can go for MRP group.
MRP group has own control parameters, so if you run MRP by MD01, system will consider the MRP group control parameters.

Dear Dharma, thank u for all your support. Just one clarification required. in our plant we use startegy 20 for header material, and vb for consumables. consumabls are part of bom. all the finished products are same as this. so we can maintain this in plant parametrs. since we are not specified mrp group, it will take plant parametrs. what about control parametrs of md01 screeen? how systm knows that it should consider only plant parametrs (not md01 control parametrs). any setting is there, pls clarify.
Hi,
Please refer the below detail taken from library.
1. The system checks first whether the material has been assigned to an MRP group, for which the creation indicators have been maintained.
2. If this is not the case, it checks whether there is a plant-specific entry.
3. If this is also not the case, it uses the creation indicator from the initial screen.

Dharma
Hi,
OPPR: MRP Group parameters
Here you will maintain parameters related to certain MRP groups for a plant.
OPPQ: MRP Plant Parameters
Here you will maintain parameters at plant level.
Eg: Suppose for a Strategy group.
During MRP Run TC: MD01 / MD02 / MDBT, System cheks first strategy group in material master, if not found then next it will search for MRP group if not found next it will search for plant parameters.
like this these are useful. i.e, instead of maintaining each and every thing for a material if we use MRP groups based on their requirement we can simply the entry work instead of entering them if we enter MRP group we can reduce this work.

Dear Yadav,
1.For all materials without an MRP group, the system uses the plant parameters that is the settings present in OPPQ, or the
entries in the initial screen of the planning run.
2.For all materials with an MRP group, the system uses the parameters recorded in the MRP group that is the settings in OPPR.
3.The MRP group is an organizational object that can be used to allocate special control parameters for planning to a group of
materials. You can maintain MRP groups if planning control per plant is not precise enough for your requirements and you want
to allocate certain material groups different control parameters from the plant parameters. For this purpose, MRP groups are
defined with these specific control parameters and are assigned to the material in the material master record (MRP 1 screen).
4.The MRP group, groups material from the material requirements planning point of view to allocate them control parameters for
planning. The control parameters include the strategy group, the planning horizon and the creation indicator for the planning run.
