Portal Access via Internet

Former Member

Dear Experts,

Please guide in what all ways we can access our portal outside our company network. We do have a static IP address which we are using for our SAP Router. This is only our development server and we need to access the same even outside the network via internet.

Also please be aware that we are implementing an external facing portal so we would be require to do the same for our production server as our customers would be accessing it.

Please advice

Thanks,

Saurabh Tripathi

I suggest taking a look at The SAP WEB Dispatcher.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e9/3bb7f8f6ea4e938ef0b9687cbb6c14/frameset.htm

Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks for your response. I already tried configuring the SAP webdispatcher as a reverse proxy and it worked as well but when I access the portal via webdispatcher my single sign on stopped working and also I am unable to access the BSP applications developed in sap and were exposed via bsp iviews in portal. If anyone can responon these issues it would be of gr8 help

Hi Tripathi ,

Try to access your portal with FQDN through web dispatcher and check. If it works fine then add the FQDN in your host file and then you can access with short url also.

By the way what error are you getting when you access the BSP application?

Hi Saurabh,

it is bit complicated.

As you Expose FQDN is different and you internal FQDN is different , you have to make some workaround.

Follow below steps.

1.

The system which you have created on EP for calling backend system , you have make changes all in that.

Changes mean every where in system where you have maintain the host name portal.server.com has to be replace by static.ip.com , by this changes when you will call the BSP from portal, it will redirect to http://static.ip.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html

2.

Now the problem is that when you will try access the portal from you internal network through URL :- http://portal.server.com:50000/irj/portal and when you will click on BSP , it will indirectly go to internet to resolve the URL :- http://static.ip.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html which is becuase we have made chnages in the system above.

From internal network if you have to resolve URL http://static.ip.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html then you have to make the entry in host file which is like below

static.ip.com 123.123.123.123

From above workaround your URL will resolve from internet as well as from your internal network.

This is all becauase you have dual stack , you have difference in FQDN.

Any query pls reply.

Thanks

Anil

Hi saurabh,

Thanks for the answer

1.

when i run the portal outside the network all the pages on 50000 port appears but none of them on 8000 port (ABAP) runs

As per your reply you are able to access the port 50000 on internet & not 8000

Your network team would have created the policy on network where the public ip 00.00.00.00 is redirected to your ep server prviate ip 11.11.11.11 .

now ask you network team are they just open the port 50000 or they open port 50000 & 8000 on which is access by internet.

i belive they would have just open the port 50000 & not 8000.

Just to confirm , telnet from internet as below

<internet> telnet < your public ip > 8000

if ports are not open then get it open from you network team.

After that you should be able to access the BSP over internet

2.

when I access the portal via webdispatcher my single sign on stopped working

IF you access the webdispatcher through ip address , then you SSO will not work.

IF you access the webdispatcher without FQDN , then also SSO will not work.

Any query pls reply.

Thanks

Anil,

suppose my static ip is 12.12.12.12 and my portal server is 123.123.123.123 and there FQDN be static.ip.com and portal.server.com respectively

1)when i access my portal within my network

i use http://portal.server.com:50000/irj/portal and the bsp applications in the iview are opening as portal.server.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html

it is running perfectly fine

2)now when i access my portal outside the network

i use http://static.ip.com it internally redirects it to my portal server keeping static.ip.com in the url but the bsp applications in the iview are trying to open as portal.server.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html and result in the error of page cannot be displayed

the other pages like of system administration or content administration are accessible though

both the ports are accessible,

Please guide again
