Hello,

In my system, each control group is associated to several checking rules. So, I don't understand how the system choose the right rule to use.

IIs it normal use ? SAP Documentation and forum threads seems to speak always about one checking rule for one checking group.

Thanks for your help,

Emmanuel

Kholargol,

The procedure used in availability check based on OPJJ(Scope of check).

The system would be using the checking rule based on the transaction performed, say for example for a Production order if availability check is performed it would pick up the checking rule assigned to the Order Type/Plant/Business transaction in OPJK and checking group would always be based on what it is assigned to the material(Component) in MPR3 view.

Thank for your answer but I still don't understand the use of several rules for one checking group. Perhaps, I'm not clear enough. Here is an exemple :

- I've got a material with a checking group "ZP" in its MRP3 view.

- In OPJJ "ZP" is associated with checking rule "01" and parameter "safety stock" ticked

- ZP is also associated with checking rule "02" this time with parameter "safety stock" unticked

This settings are conflicting. What will be the rule chosen by the transaction ?

Emmanuel,

In your Example checking group assigned to the component is "ZP", If my requirement is like during creation of order I want to include Safety stock also as available during creation of a Production order but when I am releasing the order my components should not Include Safety stock for availability.

In this case in OPJK transaction I would assign checking rule "01" to my order type/Plant and business transaction "1" and "02" for Order type / Plant and business transaction "2" - Release. Now with this settings when order is created the availability is checked considering the safety stock, whereas during release of the order safety stock would not be considered.

Emmanuel,

Just to add to what Prasobh explained on how to use different check rule 01/02 at production order level there are other checking rules that apply to SD module which is more important for defining ATP stratgey for various finished products.

So a simple sales oder for made to stock product may have checking rule A that considers existing unrestricted stock, purchase orders, production orders dates to promise against.

However a MTO sale order for made to order(MTO) product may have a check rule AE that should consider only the relevant production order and /or replenshipment lead time to promise against.

So while checking group set at material master needs many check rules specific to various Sale orders, production orders, plant mainteneance orders, or project orders.

Hope this helps in your understanding of this concept.

Thanks,

Ram
